Background
Founded in 1978 by pharmacists Ivan and Lynette Saltzman, Dis-Chem introduced the discount pharmacy concept to South Africa and listed 27.5% of its share capital on the JSE in 2016, the second-largest IPO in the exchange’s history. Its PHARMACY FIRST strategy means every store carries a dispensary, across retail and wholesale segments served by four distribution centres.
Support Base
Vexall supports Dis-Chem (216 stores, 3 016 POS and 2 000 back office terminals), The Local Choice (217 stores, 15 POS) and Baby City (37 stores, 121 POS).
The Vexall offering
ITIL-aligned incident management delivered by subject matter experts who understand retail systems and processes. Hardware maintenance, ad-hoc projects and installations delivered through a national network of qualified field technicians. Price and medical aid updates across pricing structures, medical aid rules and drug selections, aligned to industry governance standards. Digital medical aid reconciliation managing every element of medical aid payments and reconciliation. Alongside these, Vexall delivers PMBOK-aligned project management, technical and functional consultancy, and V-Sign, the platform that lets a pharmacist issue, manage and store copy scripts digitally instead of printing them.
“Vexall has become a strategic partner to Dis-Chem, supporting the business in executing its strategy in a fast paced and ever evolving business environment. Partnering with Vexall has been an absolute pleasure.”
